SUMMARY:CG: Virtual Workshop - Extended Mass Distributions of Primordial Black Holes and Primordial Magnetogenesis
DESCRIPTION:This workshop consists of a series of short lectures and hands-on activities on the topic of Primordial Black Holes (PBHs). In particular\, on understanding and computing extended mass functions of PBHs using the Press-Schecter formalism\, understanding how to extend observational constraints on monochromatic mass functions to extended mass functions\, and understanding the possible generation of primordial magnetic fields at the cosmological scales due to the PBH distribution. Each session deals with one of the aforementioned topics such that it starts with a brief lecture which is then supplemented by a hands-on exercise using Python. Objective:The workshop aims to provide practical tools for computing extended mass functions of objects characterized by Gaussian random fields with a power spectrum\, using the Press-Schecter method. It also aims to teach participants how to compute the power spectrum of cosmological magnetic fields generated by discrete objects whose distribution is characterized by a mass function and an overdensity field\, such that each object generates a magnetic field of known form in its vicinity.Lectures and hands-on sessions: 3 sessions of 1 and a half hours. 4 and a half hours in total. \n\n\n\nSession 1: PBHs as DM\, the case for an extended mass distribution.Lecture (20m+10m) – Nelson D. Padilla: Press-schecter PBH mass function and constraints for extended distributions. Poisson power spectra\, modified mass function\, noise effects.Hands-on (60m)- Joaquín Sureda: Computing the PBH mass function starting from the primordial power spectrum. Numerical method for translating monochromatic constraints into constraints for extended mass functions.Session 2: PBHs as a mechanism for magnetogenesis.Lecture (20m+10m)- Ignacio J. Araya: Power-spectrum formalism for magnetic fields and magnetogenesis from PBHs\, two possible mechanisms.Hands-on Session (60m) – Marcelo Rubio: Obtaining the magnetic power spectrum given the DM power spectrum\, the PBH mass function and the magnetic field of a single PBH.Session 3: Press-schecter PBH mass functions from power spectra with enhanced power features.Lecture (20m+10m) – Juan Magaña: The case for log-normal power spectra and the resulting PBH mass function.Hands-on Session (60m): \n\n\n\nMaterials: Notebooks for each participant. Python programming language. Jupyter environment. Wi-fi access.Workshop facilitators:Ignacio J. Araya\, Universidad Arturo Prat\, Iquique – Chile.Juan Magaña\, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile\, Santiago – Chile. Nelson D. Padilla\, IATE\, Córdoba – Argentina. Marcelo Rubio\, Institute for Fundamental Physics of the Universe (IFPU-SISSA)\,Trieste – Italy.Joaquín Sureda\, Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC)\, Donostia-SanSebastián – Spain.
