Systematic search of extragalactic sources in the VVV survey area
Vista Variables in the Via Lactea is the Galactic near-IR ESO VISTA survey to map the Milky Way's bulge and a disk area close to the center of our Galaxy.
This survey was originally designed for the study of variable stars but a countless of topics may be studied within this large amount of data. In particular, the detection of extragalactic sources, by using deep infrared images, allows to study an underexplored sky region.
A review of the main results will be discussed focusing in the relevance of discovering new objects outside the Milky Way.
