GW150914 and the TOROS follow up

The Transient Optical Robotic Observatory of the South (TOROS)  under a Memorandum for Understanding (MoU) with the LIGO-VIRGO collaboration, was one of the 20 leading groups around the world that followed up the first gravitational wave detected by the LVC on September 14, 2015. The TOROS collaboration has operated the 1.5m EABA telescope in Bosque Alegre for two consecutive nights, and had taken optical imaging of some of the Southern sky probability regions on the search for the EM counterparts of GW150914. In my talk, I will present and discuss the observations, the implications for gravitational wave astronomy, and the new era of time domain astronomy.
