Modeling the interaction of an exoplanet and its host star: the case of HD 209458b
HD 209458b is one of the best observed and studied hot-Jupiter type exoplanets. We have modeled the hydrodynamical interaction with the host star as two colliding winds, a hot fast wind from the star, and a cool slow wind from a photo-evaporating atmosphere form the planet. I will review a series of papers that we have devoted to this system, with an increasing level of complexity.
